Whiskey Tasteful Peerless Rye Whiskey Review

If you’re looking for a palatable sipping rye that really packs a punch, look no further than Peerless straight rye whiskey. It’s from Peerless Distillery in downtown Louisville Kentucky United States of America.
This rye grain is bottled at 108.8 proof, and it doesn’t disappoint! The intense woody and sweet nose with a hint of oak is sure to please any whisky advocate.
The story of Peerless is somewhat of a comeback. One of the few whiskeys prescribed for “medical use” during Prohibition, Peerless was made by the Kentucky distiller company, founded in the 1880s.
In the decades following Prohibition, the company fell into disrepair. Its reviving came through a fourth-generation family business ownership arrangement. The Louisville distillery makes all its whiskey today.
Spice Notes
A cedarwood and sweet aroma permeate the nose. Vanilla and maple syrup meet dusty, hot wood, cherry pits, and apple slices drenched in cinnamon with light citrus sweetness.
It has a smooth texture that glides over the tongue without clinging to it, a medium heat level, and a medium body.
Baking Spices

At the start, it’s grainy and bready, with strong flavors reminiscent of oatmeal cookies and shortbread. Lastly, we’re treated to sweet tones of maple syrup and vanilla toffee at the center, where the first hints of oak spice are noticeable in what’s been an otherwise surprisingly soft experience for such a high-ABV rye whiskey.
Buttery Mouthfeel
While the proof might have drinkers thinking they’ll crash into a wall of big rye spice at the end, the smooth taste flavors on the back of the palate, turning sweet, fruity, and just the right spicy with apples that have been covered in brown sugar and cinnamon. A beautiful finish of caramel apple ushers in a rounder, sweeter finish.
By its proof, Peerless may appear to be a fruity, oaky, vanilla bomb, but it’s actually a hearty rye with a rich, enjoyable sweetness and full body.
Conclusion
If you’re a fan of rye whiskey, I urge you to check out Peerless small-batch rye. It’s one of the most enjoyable whiskeys I’ve had in a while. Even if you’re not typically a fan of ryes, I think you’ll be surprised by how much you like this one. MSRP price tag is $109.00 per bottle, it’s definitely worth your time to give it a try.
